The Time Beings

The Time Beings formed in central Massachusetts back in the late seventies. They played around Boston during the eighties only releasing one track on Voxx’s Beast from the East compilation before original members began to move on. After a few years of personnel changes, the lineup solidified, and they finally released an album aptly entitled It’s About Time.
This single, the followup to their album, offers two supercharged covers that should be familiar to anyone who has listened to more than a few volumes of Pebbles. Fueled by the unmistakably searing guitar of Preston Wayne (DMZ/The Odds), the overtly raga-psych song “Visions” (Looking Glasses) is given a strong dose of adrenaline. Retaining the original’s over-the-top trippyness, the Beings take it up several notches with their eastern-inspired arrangement, twin raga-inspired guitar solos and huge chord crashes. The tail side of this 45 is a powerful reworking of one of the better Paul Revere and the Raiders songs which is more typical of their gritty garage approach.
