Dog & The Acid Bunnies Release Catalog!

Images of Dog and the Acid Bunnies from the 1980s.

On Armistice Day 1984, Dog & the Acid Bunnies entered the appropriately labeled White Dog Studios, and recorded two short tracks which eventually surfaced on their 1988 single. The band for this recording bore a striking resemblance to another Newton, Ma band, The Trodds. But that flash of familiarity ended with this session. Over the next several years Dog (Scott Ferguson) and Tom Kelly would periodically ensconce themselves in several recording studios and wound up producing more than 20 additional tracks that owe a great debt to the best of the mid to late-60s garage, psych and folk-rock sounds. Not content with the common guitar, bass and drum instrumentation favored by many bands, the astute listener will detect various Acid Bunnies sprinkling flute, bagpipes and even a train into regions of their repertoire. Rumors of a rogue Acid Bunny utilizing a vacuum cleaner in a song have been confirmed, although this not so subtle nuance was left out of the final mix.
